Paul Taylor

Paul Taylor celebrates the culture of his Australian homeland in shows for all ages, sharing stories and music of Aboriginal and European Australia. Taylor delights in celebrating the culture of his homeland through story, song and didjeridoo. He travels throughout the US, performing to all ages and conducting school residencies, combining storytelling and music with dance and painting.

Paul Taylor has performed and taught for over 200,000 American children. His educational concerts present Australian culture in story and song for elementary, middle and high school.

"Matilda and the Dreamtime"(elementary, middle and high, family) includes music, poetry and storytelling introducing audiences to the Australian character.

"Land of the Lightning Brothers"(3rd to adult, family) presents the aboriginal culture through music, storytelling and slides from a collection of 10,000 year old rock paintings.

Paul Taylor offers twelve workshops in Australian culture, music and stories and one week residencies for elementary, middle and high school. Paul also offers residency experiences for seniors which include performance and hands-on activities.

As a performing artist, Paul trained as an actor at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, UK. He worked professionally as an actor, stage manager in Australia's regional theatres and a clown in a circus show performing throughout England, Scotland and Wales.  Taylor has been endorsed by the state Arts Councils of Texas, Wyoming, Utah, North Dakota, South Carolina, and South Dakota, and he has been honored for his work with Arts in Education by being appointed Adjunct Professor in the University of Wyoming, College of Education. Paul's credits include the New Orleans Jazz Festival, Kerrville Folk Festival, Clearwater Revival Folk Festival, National Geographic, Festivale Internationale de Louisiane, and Wyoming Symphony Orchestra.

Taylor is mentored by Yidunduma Bill Harney, last male custodian of the Wardaman culture in Australia's Northern Territory. Now based in Laramie, Wyo., Taylor returns to Australia on sabbatical each year to spend time with family and to travel and study with Mr. Harney. Trained as a social worker, Taylor has spent his life traveling and experiencing cultures from around the world. "I have been blessed with close contact with Australia's Aboriginal people, the Filipino and Balinese traditional cultures of Asia, and the Lakota, Hopi and Navajo people of North America," Taylor says. Wherever his journeys take him, he studies and shares in rich traditions of song, dance and stories.
